Accessibility researchers and educators will come together on October 23, 2024 from 9 am to 2 pm Central Time (10 am to 3 pm ET) in this virtual workshop to “explore the topics, approaches, resources, and challenges involved in teaching accessibility across different disciplines.” Although accessibility education has been explored extensively in computer science, in other disciplines it is “under investigated.” The workshop seeks to provide a forum for participating practitioners to share ideas about accessibility and to outline a research and educational agenda for teaching accessibility, including “topics, approaches, resources, and challenges.” It is being organized by past faculty grantees of Teach Access, “a non-profit working to bridge the accessibility skills gap between education and industry,” and is “co-located with ASSETS 2024,” an international conference on computers and accessibility. Accessibility researchers and educators are invited to submit proposals to share their work related to accessibility education. Proposals can be related to teaching accessibility in any discipline, such as computer science or related areas, health education, design, and other topics. The proposals will be peer-reviewed by two workshop organizers based on how relevant they are to this workshop. Submissions are due September 30, 2024.
