For the holiday season, letters from Santa, sent on his behalf, and winter-themed letters can be ordered in braille at no cost. Here are two sources:
“Letters from Santa Claus in braille” are once again being offered by Braille Works. They will help to bring holiday cheer by embossing the letters and mailing them to children throughout the United States. Parents, teachers, and friends may request the letter which will be sent with a postmark “from the North Pole.” A large print copy will be included as well. As Braille Works points out, “a letter in braille is a great way to encourage and develop…braille reading skills.” Requests must be received by December 9, 2024. For more information or to request a letter, visit the BrailleWorks webpage announcing that Santa Reads Braille, which includes ordering forms for parents and teachers.
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) provides braille letters and activities for children who are ten years old and younger in the U.S. “to celebrate the holiday and winter season.” They offer Santa letters and Winter Celebration letters as part of a packet of activities, which is accompanied by a print copy so that family members and other non-braille users can participate. Letters and activities are available in Spanish as well. Parents can choose the braille packet that best fits their family. The deadline to request these materials is December 16, 2024. For more information, read the NFB webpage on Santa and Winter Celebration Letters. To request a letter, complete and submit the Santa/Winter Celebration Form.
