Dedicated to Improving the Lives of Blind and Visually Impaired People

Upcoming Webinars on Transportation Access, Accessible Social Media Content Creation, and “AI-Powered Vision”

November 20, 2024 at 3 pm ET: Coalition Building for Non-Driver Transportation Access and Equity

Nearly one-third of people in the U.S. are non drivers, due to disability, age, by choice, or other factors. Many people who don’t drive depend on family, friends, transit programs, or additional options to get to work, medical appointments, social events, and other activities. Most Americans, particularly in less populated areas, have limited transportation programs if they are available at all. This webinar will provide information addressing how to resolve these issues. “Transportation equity requires significant system change that goes beyond a patchwork of programs. One tool for moving us forward is interdisciplinary coalition building, where people with lived experience, policymakers, advocates, state and local agencies, regional planners, and transportation providers” work together to effect large-scale change. Participants in this webinar will learn about two coalitions “that can serve as models” for implementation in other regions and states, the Wisconsin Nondriver Advisory Committee and the Washington Nondriver Report. Presenters will speak about how their groups are structured, their membership, and accomplishments. More information is available on the VisionServe Alliance webpage on Coalition Building for Non-Driver Transportation Access and Equity and the registration link.
