On January 9, 2025 from 1 to 2 pm, Older Adults with Deafblindness: A Discussion will focus on this population, who make up the largest group of deafblind people in the U.S. Many of these individuals are “unserved or underserved,” and often do not consider themselves “DeafBlind.” To increase awareness, this webinar from The AER (Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired) will welcome guest speaker Jenee Alleman, an Older Adult Specialist from the Helen Keller National Center (HKNC). Alleman will present key data insights about older adults with deafblindness and describe how HKNC’s services impact their lives. Participants will have the opportunity to gain greater understanding of this unique population and learn about the resources available to support their independence and quality of life. Participants may join the session by clicking on the Zoom Meeting Link for AER on January 9th. Learn more here about the HKNC Older Adult Program and here about AER’s Division on Aging.
