Helen Keller Services (HKS) is hosting the Accessibility Symposium and Awards event online on October 22, 2024 beginning at 12 noon ET. This program, offered at no cost, promises to “bring together thought leaders, innovators, and advocates, all united in fostering a more inclusive culture.” Prioritizing accessibility can drive innovation, improve customer experience, and “contribute to a more equitable society.” At the same time, making products and services accessible can increase market reach significantly and heighten brand loyalty. HKS has noted that the global disability market, at nearly $7 trillion, has “substantial spending power.” This often underserved market offers “immense opportunities for businesses willing to prioritize accessibility.” Attendees will find out how leading businesses are integrating accessibility into their work and innovations. Keynote speaker Sumaira Latif, company accessibility leader at Procter & Gamble, will speak about “Paving Global Pathways: The Procter & Gamble Blueprint for Accessibility.” Some of Latif’s work related to individuals with vision loss was covered in a previous issue of this Bulletin explaining how Beauty Products are Becoming More Accessible. Other presentations will focus on accessible product design and a talk by the producer of the Netflix series “All the Light We Cannot See,” also covered in a previous Bulletin. Award recipients include United Airlines, Booz Allen Hamilton, Lego, Apple, Be My Eyes, Meloway Makeup, Rival, and The Viscardi Center. Find out more by visiting the HKS webpage on the Virtual Accessibility Symposium and Awards Event Program. Additional details and registration information on the program are available here.
