Seeking a way to help diabetic patients “take matters into their own hands,” Dr. Arna Gundmundsdottir of Iceland and her team sought to create a way to help people monitor their eye health. The resulting RetinaRisk app uses an algorithm that enables patients to determine “their individualized risk of developing diabetic retinopathy…” RetinaRisk considers risk factors diabetics face, such as blood glucose levels, blood pressure and gender.
