As we look back on Labor Day and begin to embark on the fall season, momentum builds for this year’s commemoration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Labor Day recognizes the value and contributions of all workers to the “strength, prosperity, and well-being” of the nation. NDEAM is celebrated each year in October, with the introduction and reinforcement of themes that can be communicated year round, to ensure that workers with disabilities “have access to good jobs, every month of the year.” During this occasion, we also “celebrate the value and talent workers with disabilities add to America’s workplaces and economy.” That message is conveyed through the official 2024 theme: “Access to Good Jobs for All.” The NDEAM video underscores and elaborates on this theme, providing details about the commemoration, resources, and related information. As stated in the video, “Indeed, a disability-inclusive workforce is a strong workforce, and today, more and more leading employers across the U.S. are realizing this—and reaping clear, bottom-line benefits as a result.” The animated video is available on YouTube and the Animated Video Descriptive Transcript can be accessed here.
