On November 6, 2024 from 2 to 3:30 pm ET, Closing the Gap: Helping Families Remove Barriers to Eye Care After Receiving Referrals from Vision Screenings will “describe two approaches to closing the gap between vision screening referrals and eye exams.” Vision screenings followed by a confirming eye examination and prescription glasses have been shown to result in marked improvements in children’s education, confidence, and behavior. Yet, few children who receive a referral from a vision screening participate in an eye exam. This session, which will provide pointers to bridge the gap, is intended for school administrators, educators, school nurses, and anyone following up with families after vision screenings.
