September 20, 2024 Webinar: Suicide Prevention Among People with Disabilities: Reducing Risks and Sharing Resources
Rates of suicide in general have been described as a crisis, with the incidence at all-time highs. Individuals with disabilities are at four times higher risk, according to the Older Individuals who are Blind Technical Assistance Center (OIB-TAC). On September 20, 2024, at 2 pm Central Time (3 pm ET), OIB-TAC will present a webinar on “Suicide Prevention: Risks, Response, and Accessible Resources.” Dr. Michael Nadorff, professor of psychology and licensed psychologist, and Chandler McDaniel, a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology, both from Mississippi State University, will discuss their thoughts on why suicide rates are so high among those with a disability and will explore how to reduce the risks. “Although the problem may seem too large for us to take on alone, the good news is that there are simple steps that all of us can take that can make all the difference in someone’s life.” Learn more on the OIB-TAC webpage describing the webinar on Suicide Prevention: Risks, Response, and Accessible Resources and register for the program here.
