On August 28, 2024, from 4 to 5 pm Pacific Time (7 to 8 pm ET), “Navigating Streaming Services: A Guide to Audio Descriptions for People who are Blind or Visually Impaired” will explore audio descriptions and the digital accessibility of streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, and more. Fred Black, audio describer, voiceover artist, and webmaster of the “largest database of audio-described content,” will explain the workings of the Audio Description Project using a screen reader and will also explain how to enable audio description on specific devices and services. On September 17, 2024 from 4 to 5 pm Pacific Time (7 to 8 pm ET), “Pathways to Disability Employment-Transform Your Future: Write a Resume” will be geared toward job seekers who are blind, have low vision, are DeafBlind, and are blind with other disabilities. Those participating will learn about preparing a strong resume, as well as which format best highlights their “unique skills, abilities, and experiences.” Facilitators for the program are Cheryl Cumings, workforce manager at The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc., and Sara Freeman-Smith, a long-time human resources professional.
