Dedicated to Improving the Lives of Blind and Visually Impaired People

Blindness and Diabetes Education Classes Offered Beginning in September 2024

Accessible Pharmacy Services Diabetes Lifestyle coaches are offering a year-long virtual program to help people who are blind to stay healthy and avoid diabetes. Taught by two women who are blind, the program’s goals are to lose weight through healthy eating, increase physical activity, and learn how to identify and address barriers to a healthy diet and physical activity. A total of 22 sessions will be held over the course of the year, beginning in September 2024. The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is intended for individuals with pre-diabetes as well as those who are at risk but have not been diagnosed with the condition. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), participants lowered their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 71 percent.
