The American Council of the Blind (ACB) has announced the individuals and organizations honored at the 2024 Audio Description Awards Gala, held on November 14. This event recognizes “achievement in audio description in entertainment and educational media.” The Gala featured film clips, celebrity guests, and a variety of award categories and was broadcast with audio description (AD), captions, ASL interpretation, and Spanish dubbing and AD. Award winners were: Joel Snyder, Ph.D., one of the first audio describers, founder of and senior consultant to ACB’s Audio Description Project (ADP) and president, Audio Description Associates – AD Visionary; Vimeo – Innovation; Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games – Gaming; Fred Rogers – Education; Paramount Global – Popular Entertainment; Microsoft – Advertising and Promotion; NBCUniversal – Live Events; Plaza Sesamo – Spanish Media (USA); SkyUK – International; Prospector Theater – Total Access; All the Light We Cannot See (Netflix/DC) – People’s Choice Award (Series); and Dune 2 (Warner Bros. Discovery/Deluxe U.S.) – People’s Choice Award (Film).
