Upcoming Virtual Events on Accessibility and Employment

by B. E. Lewis, RDPFS Intern:

In the coming weeks, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is holding a number of events related to “celebrate the organized blind movement.” These include the following free, online programs (via Zoom) on accessibility and employment:

On October 18, 2023, from 8 to 9:15 pm ET, the “Where the Blind Work Webinar” will celebrate the “work and accomplishments” of people who are blind or have low vision, recognizing the persistent unemployment and under-employment of those with vision loss. A panel discussion will be made up of experts in human resources and community relations. Learn more or register here for the Where the Blind Work Webinar

On October 26, 2023 from 1 to 4 pm ET, the “Virtual Career Fair” will be held for employees to “find your occupational passion” and to help employers to “add talent to your team.” Registration goes through October 16, 2023. For more information, visit the NFB Career Fair webpage for either the Jobseeker Registration or Employer Registration.

On October 31, 2023, from 2 to 3:30 pm ET, the “Accessibility Boutique on Job Search Websites” will take place. NFB’s Center for Excellence in Nonvisual Accessibility will cover how to evaluate job-search websites throughout “each stage of the process.” Register here for the October Accessibility Boutique.
