Small Business Toolkit Available on How to Hire Workers with Disabilities and Build Talent

A new toolkit has been developed with “valuable information and resources to help small businesses build talent pipelines, address workforce needs, and gain insights into recruiting, hiring, retaining, and advancing people with disabilities.” This resource addresses the benefits and advantages of hiring individuals with disabilities to the business, the community, and the overall economy. “Research shows that a disability-inclusive workforce is a high-performing workforce.” The toolkit also recognizes that people with disabilities “represent one of the largest consumer groups in the U.S.” Specific guidelines and best practices are provided to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace, offer reasonable accommodations, advance accessibility within the work environment and in terms of technology, and more. The Small Business Toolkit is provided through the Office of Disability Employment Policy’s (ODEP) Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN).
