Dedicated to Improving the Lives of Blind and Visually Impaired People

RDPFS Update: Grants Awarded to Strengthen Music Education, Youth Services, and Professional Assessments for Children and Young Adults with Vision Loss

The Reader’s Digest Partners for Sight Foundation (RDPFS) Board of Directors recently approved the awarding of three grants to not-for-profit providers. While supporting distinct programs and organizations, each of these grants addresses underserved needs of young people, from a focus on early childhood, to school-aged children, to those pursuing higher education. For people who are blind or visually impaired, early identification and assessments, accessibility to educational content, and access to services are crucial elements of academic, social, and vocational success. Each grantee, through their areas of expertise, is helping individuals with vision loss to overcome barriers to success, build self-sufficiency, and realize their full potential to lead independent and fulfilling lives. The three grants have been awarded to The Filomen D’Agostino Greenberg Music School: The Final Hurdle to Music Accessibility: Higher Education; Lighthouse Guild: Insightful Saturdays: Virtual Youth Enrichment Program; and Perkins School for the Blind: Confronting the CVI Crisis.
