“Seen and Unseen” Virtual Tour of Isamu Noguchi’s Public Works: April 4, 2024
Designed for adults with vision loss, the “Seen and Unseen” virtual series of free tours, guide visitors through the work of sculptor Isamu Noguchi through verbal description and conversation. On April 4, 2024, from 7:30 to 9 pm ET, participants will learn about Noguchi’s large-scale public works and “explore the tension between an artist’s desire for perfection and the unpredictability of working with natural elements.” Although there is no charge, virtual visitors to this Noguchi Museum tour need to RSVP to receive a Zoom link or dial-in phone number: via email: [email protected] or by calling 718-204-7088, ext. 203. Artist Talk and “Other-Worlding Touch Tour:” April 7, 2024
In-person and virtual visitors are invited to join the award-winning artist Emilie L. Gossiaux on April 7, 2024 for a talk on “Other-Worlding,” her exhibit currently featured at the Queens Museum in New York City. The talk will be in person and live-streamed at 3 pm ET; the tour will be in person at the Museum from 2 to 3 pm. Gossiaux will guide participants through how the “aesthetics of touch, visual art, language, and care are interconnected through the creative exchange of description.” Through touch and verbal description, participants will explore Gossiaux’s sculptural work “White Cane Maypole Dance.” The artist will also explain her creative process. Tactile graphic takeaways of her work can be requested at the Museum as well as through the mail by completing and submitting the Braille and Tactile Graphic Mailing Request.
